Joseph Frank Thrasher, 74, well-known rural educator, died yesterday at 4 p.m. at his home in West Fork. He had been ill for the past three weeks.

Mr. Thrasher was born Dec. 2, 1862, near West Fork where he lived most of his life as a teacher and farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Thrasher; four daughters, Mrs. Robert Karnes and Mrs. Murat Smith of West Fork, Mrs. Robert Glover of Plummerville, and Mrs. Garland Blaylock of Bellville, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Love of Denver and Mrs. Alta Wardlow of Oregon; three brothers, Dell Thrasher of Denver, Herbert Thrasher of Bentonville and Ed Thrasher of Decatur; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the West Fork Baptist church by the Rev. Marion Griffin of Vian, Okla. Burial, under the direction of Nelson-Savage Funeral Home, will be in Went Fork cemetery.

Mrs. Maggie Thrasher, 76, a life long resident of West Fork, died Tuesday night after an extended illness. Born November 10, 1880 at West Fork, the daughter of Adam and Melissa Carter, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and the widow of Joseph Frank Thrasher, who died in 1947.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Mural Smith, Mrs. Jewell Karnes, Mrs. Cleo Glover, all of West Fork, and Mrs. Ruby Blalock, Hamburg; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the West Fork Presbyterian Church by the Rev. William R. Knox. Burial will he in the West Fork cemetery, under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Home.
