West Fork — Maurice L. Ray , 65, of West Fork died Sunday in a Fayetteville hospital. Born Nov. 14, 1920, at West Fork, the son of Charles and Sylvia Anne Stockburger Ray, he was a retired University of Arkansas professor where he was employed for 33 years. He was a member of the West Fork Masonic Lodge, past Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge, member of the Eastern Star, past president of the Downtown Fayetteville Rotary Club, a member of the West Fork Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of West Fork.
Survivors are his wife, Nell Ray of the home; two sons, David Allen Ray of West Fork and John Adam Ray of the home; a daughter, Caroline Arm Crider of Greenland; a sister, Muriel Sperduto of Annadale, Va., and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a m. Wednesday at West Fork Presbyterian Church with burial in the West Fork Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Home of Fayetteville. Memorials may be made to the West Fork Presbyterian Church.

FAYETTEVILLE — Nell Ray, 91, of Fayetteville died Aug. 12, 2012, at Fayetteville City Hospital, her home for over 12 years. Nell was born Oct. 22, 1920, in West Fork. She is the daughter of Garland and Ada Carter. She married Maurice Ray, Feb. 4, 1942.
She was a member of the West Fork Presbyterian Church, president of the Missionary Society, Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Daughters of Demeter, the University of Arkansas Women's Club and secretary for the West Fork School superintendent.
Nell loved to quilt, cross-stitch and sew. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Ada Carter; her husband, Dr. Maurice L. Ray; two brothers, Hearl and Tom Carter; and two sisters, Thelma Williams and Mary Threlkeld.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Crider and husband, Marion, of West Fork; two sons, David Ray of West Fork and John Ray of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Lane Crider and wife, Stacy, of Fayetteville, and Marcus Crider and wife, Christy, of Nashville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Kelsey Ray of Springdale; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Tuck Crider of Fayetteville, and Cole and Lydia Crider of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Muriel Sperduto and husband, Ted, of Springfield, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family at Fayetteville City Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at the chapel of Beard's Funeral Chapel with Carter Threlkeld officiating.
Burial will be in the West Fork Cemetery.
