When Festus P. Girkin was born on February 2, 1907, in Baxter, Arkansas, his father, Joseph, was 38 and his mother, Edna, was 29. He married Clara E Smith on April 13, 1929. They had three children during their marriage. He died on May 6, 1988, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 81, and was buried there.
