When William Edgar Watkins was born on May 2, 1894, in Arkansas, his father, Daniel, was 32 and his mother, Florena, was 23. He married Bonnie Moats on August 17, 1917. They had one child during their marriage. He died on January 11, 1963, in his hometown at the age of 69, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
