18th Ohio Infantry
Jacob Altman was the son of David D. and Margaret (Rummel) Altman. Records show that he was born 16 March 1827 in Ohio and passed from this life on 08 August 1900 in Jackson County, Arkansas. Jacob was married to Emily L. Garry on 13 October 1850 in Meigs County, Ohio. He was mustered into Company K of the 18th Ohio Infantry in 1861. After the war, Jacob, Emily and their growing family lived in Illinois and Indiana before arriving in Arkansas. Emily passed away in 1894 in Denmark, Jackson County. Jacob lived for some time with his daughter, Margaret, her husband Louis Throckmorton and their family in Jackson County before Jacob's passing in the summer of 1900.
