Mildred Irene Bowen Churchill, age 101, passed away on January 23, 2018 at Silver Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation, Camden, AR. She was born June 24, 1916 at Hector, AR to Rev. Jess L. Bowen and Pearl Tackett Bowen. Mildred was a member of Cullendale Assembly of God Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She also served as Secretary of Women’s Ministries. Mildred taught public school at New Hope and Bethel Chapel, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 67 years, Lelus A. Churchill; two brothers, J. W. Bowen and Rev. Bobby H. Bowen and two sisters, Faye Burris and Margaret Sebren.
Mildred is survived by sons, Jerry Churchill of Camden, AR and Randy Churchill and his wife, Winna of Smackover, AR; a sister, Wanda Farmer of Florence, AZ, a brother, Leonard Bowen of Sheridan, AR; granddaughters Shannon Moberly and her husband, Scott of Williamsburg, VA, Ashley Jones and her husband, Lance of Stevensville, MT, and Amber Pierce and her husband Bryan of Conway, AR; a grandson, Scott Churchill of Williamsburg, VA; step grandchildren James Adams and his wife, Sharlane, Lanie and David Konecny, Janna Jerry and her husband Scott and Jason Adams and his wife, Amanda. Nonnie had 13 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Rita Davis Spears and her husband, Billy of Camden, AR.
The family would like to thank her physician, Dr. Crump, Hospice and the staff and CNAs of Silver Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation of Camden for their care of Mildred.
Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00-8:00 Thursday. A graveside service will be held 10:00 Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery with Al Womack officiating.
