When Gertrude Pauline Wilks (Dykes) was born on January 13, 1908, in Oklahoma, her father, Lewis, was 22, and her mother, Clara, was 22. She married John Lee Dykes on September 20, 1931, in Cordell, Oklahoma. They had one child during their marriage. She died on September 29, 2001, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 93, and was buried there.
