James Monroe Mansfield of Floral, AR passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, Friday, July 26, 2019, at the age of 91. James was born May 31, 1928 to Eldridge and Arietta (Houchin) Mansfield in Tupelo, AR. James served his country honorably in the Army Air Corp and then the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years. James, or “Pa” as he was affectionately called by his family, was an avid storyteller, recounting his life and his service to his children and grandchildren and all who would listen. Pa was an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking. When his grandchildren graduated from high school, he made the girls Hope Chests and the boys anything they requested.

James is preceded in death by both of his parents, and his wife of 70 years, Loudean Mansfield. He is also preceded in death by 3 brothers: Albert Z. Mansfield, Wilburn Mansfield, and William Atkinson, two sisters: Blanche Henderson and Beatrice Cook, and one great granddaughter, Alisha Kay Fleming. James is survived by his 3 sons: Jimmie L. (Diane) Mansfield, Jerry L. Mansfield, and James A. (Sherrie) Mansfield, his two daughters: Carol (Jimmy) Green and Grace (Jimmy) Cole, his two sisters: Sheila (Elton) Loftin, and Linda Atkinson, 25 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Services are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville, AR. There will be a visitation from 12-2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Willis Funeral Service in Batesville. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery (Crossroads) in Bradford, AR.
