George Larry “Moon” Avant , A native and resident of Hampton, Arkansas, passed away on November 8, 2012 at the age of 61. George travelled all over the country with his family as a radio broadcaster for thirty years. He served in gospel ministry the majority of that time, including many years in an original comedy duo known as “The Light Brothers”. He was also a writer, humorist, painter and avid reader. George had a lifelong interest in his family history, and returned to Arkansas for the last few years of his life to the town where he had spent his childhood summers. He also continued to entertain readers and fans through his novel “Strange Side of the Tracks” based on his childhood memories and adventures, as well as through online blogging where he shared his original humor and unique perspective on history and current events. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Luke Avant. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Avant, Matthew and Sarah Domingue Avant, Nathan and Krystin Dupuis Avant; grandchildren Jackson Kyle, Aidan Parker and Avery Elisabeth; his mother, Billie Jean Avant, brother Richard Avant, sister Debbie Cartwright, niece Deanna Douglass, nephews and many cousins. A memorial service for the family will be held on November 17th at 4:00pm at the Tinsman Church. Proverbs 17:22 – “A merry heart doeth good, like medicine.”
