Dovie Hamilton Tanner age 94 of Russellville passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home.
She was born October 9, 1920 at Deeberry, Ar to the late Felix Hamilton and Nancy Aleen “Brown” Hamilton.
She married C.B. Tanner on July 22, 1937 and they lived in Dardanelle.
She was a member of the Dardanelle Calvery Baptist Church. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, C.B. Tanner; step mother, Ollie Cole Hamilton; one brother, Clarence Hamilton Sr.; sisters, Bonnie Daggs, Ola Mae Humphres, Lou Ella Bull and a son-in-law, Bill Bird.
Survivors include nine children, Jean Bird of Lonedell, MO, Terl Tanner and wife Lisa of Auroa, IL, Johnnie Tanner and wife Ann of Boerne, TX, Odis (Chuck) Tanner and wife Sara of Russellville, AR, Steve Tanner and wife Mary of Mexico, MO, Brenda Taylor and husband Pat of Carrollton, MS, Debbie Oswalt and husband Elmer of Daphne, AL, Donna Jenkins and husband David Galveston, TX, Gary Tanner and wife Brenda of Carrollton, MS, one adopted son, Bill Owens and wife Dee of Mission, TX; twenty six grandchildren; fifty one great grand children; four great great grandchildren and one great great grandson due in January 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00A.M., Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Calvery Baptist Church in Dardanelle. Visitation will be held Monday, 5:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery.
Granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 7201.
