ENGLES, Isabella Kinnibrug - Mrs. Isabella Kinnibrug Engles, aged 90 years, died at her home near Farmington in Washington county on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Engles was a true Arkansawyer. Her entire life of half a score less than a century was spent within a radius of 200 miles from her birthplace. She had lived for 61 years in the house in which
she died. Her father, who was an early settler of that section, became particularly well known by the fact that before the Civil War he freed not only his own slaves but also purchased those belonging to his sister and giving them employment when freed. Six grandsons served as pallbearers at her funeral.

In the 1850s, William Henry Engels built a small grist mill powered by mules, and the community became known as Engels Mill. In 1856, Engels married Isabella Kinnibrugh, and she was given a sizable acreage of family land upon her marriage. The couple built a large two-story house, which is still standing in Farmington.
