July 15, 1891 - October 25, 1965
John W. Newton, 74, of Camden, died in Camden Monday afternoon. He was a retired real estate agent, a former Ouachita County treasurer and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ted Perry Newton; three sons, John W. Newton of Riverside, Calif., George W. Newton of Pine Bluff and William R. Newton of Ashland, Mass.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Bateman of San Rafael, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Boles of San Bruno, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. F. N. Yarbrough of Pine Bluff; and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, with burial in Camden's Memorial Park. (The El Dorado Times - October 26, 1965)
