Lilyan Gertrude Cartwright, 99, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died May 29, 2015, at Pumpkin Patch Assisted Living, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Born July 13, 1915, in Maysville, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Franklin Lee and Elizabeth Gertrude (Chandler) Barney. Lilyan graduated from Gentry High School in 1935. She worked all her life beginning on the family farm near Bloomfield and also worked at JC Penney’s, Douglas Aircraft Company, Bratt Wasson Bank and Siloam Springs Medical Clinic where she worked for 23 years. She married R.W. Ford in 1945, he preceded her in death in 1951. She married John Cartwright in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1976. After retirement she volunteered with the Siloam Springs Hospital Auxiliary for 17 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Siloam Springs, where she was active in the Women’s Circle for many years. Lilyan was an active prayer warrior and loved, loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands R.W. Ford and John Cartwright, brothers Clyde, Commodore, Ted and Earle; sisters JoAnne and Ilene.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas with Pastor Wayne Thomas and Dr. Randy Rowlan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Kind of Heart Ministries, P.O. Box 6932, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, 72761 or First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Twin Springs Road, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, 72761.
