Billy D. King, 80, of Judsonia, passed from this life Friday, February 1, 2013 after a short, but brutal, battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 9, 1932 a son of the late Kenny "K.K." King and Lorene "Mutt" King. Billy was a decorated Army veteran, having proudly served in the Korean War. He was involved in sales for a number of years and retired after 18 years as Surveillance Supervisor at the Bally's Casino. After his retirement, he owned and operated Auntie's Place in Judsonia, where he greatly enjoyed serving good food and being with his friends. Meeting people and talking, especially about the Bible and politics, were among his favorite things to do. In earlier years, Billy was an avid outdoorsman. He was a faithful Christian and enjoyed attending various churches.
From Billy's marriage to Marlene Hays, 2 daughters were born; his beloved Jada and Pam. Billy and Ann Smithson were later married and he proudly adopted her 2 children, Doug and Lianne.
Dr. Jada (King) Vaughan and her husband, Gary Beck survive as well as Doug King and wife Tracy and Lianne (King) Hilbert and husband David. Pam Weathers went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2013 and her husband Sonny survives.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, LaDawn Warden, Chris Weathers and Josh Weathers all of Judsonia, Brooks Vaughan of Orlando and Melissa Tygart, Craig Hilbert, Andrew Hilbert and Ray King; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 1:00 - 2:30. A graveside service, with military honors, will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt Cemetery with Bro. Scotty Burrow officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
