Dies at Batesville

Rev. R. M. Hively, well known in this part of the county, who was resided near Violet Hill for the past two or three years, died in the sanitarium at Batesville Tuesday night, after a short illness. The remains were forwarded to his home Wednesday and burial took place in the Violet Hill cemetery Friday about noon, services being conducted by Rev. J. H. Porterfield.

Deceased was 48 years of age. Practically all his life was spent in this county, having been born and reared a few miles north of here in the vicinity of Cross Roads. He purchased a farm near Violet Hill several months ago and moved there to make his home. He suffered an attack of appendicitis a short time ago and was taken to Batesville for an operation, from which he failed to rally. His death came as a complete shock to every one, as he was not thought to be in any immediate danger.

Mr. Hively was one of the county's best citizens and was loved and admired by all who knew him. He was a minister of the Baptist church and has wielded a strong convictions. He is a brother of Rev. D. A. Hively of this place.

Deceased is survived by his wife, seven sons, three daughters and three brothers.

Funeral of Former Resident Held Monday

Funeral services were held at Violet Hill Monday for Mrs. T. M. Hively Davis, former resident of this section who died at Neosho, Mo., Friday of last week. Services were conducted by Rev. L. R. Porterfield. Burial was in Violet Hill Cemetery.

Surviving are seven sons, Arthur Hively of Safford, Arizona, Edward and Floyd Hively, Neosho, Mo., Verlin and Griffin Hively, Wenatchee, Wash., Jeff Hively, Yuma, Arizona, Owen Hively, Kennett, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. B. N. Hall of Calico Rock and Mrs. T. L. Jones of Neosho; two brothers, Edward Clark of Cash, Ark., and Taylor Clark of Tupelo, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Wayland of Calico Rock and Mrs. Francis Dillard of Little Rock; 43 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Died at Batesville

Miss Grace Hively, aged 14, daughter of the late Robert M. Hively of Violet Hill, died in the sanitarium at Batesville last Tuesday night, after a short illness from appendicitis. She suffered an attack of appendicitis Saturday and on Tuesday was taken to Batesville for an operation but her condition was of such serious nature that death resulted before the operation was performed. The body was returned to Violet Hill Wednesday, burial taking place in the Violet Hill cemetery. She is survived by her mother and several brothers and sisters.
