Robert McCree was born March 07, 1955 in Camden, Arkansas. He departed this life Tuesday, October 02, 2014 at 4:55 PM at the VA Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. At an early age, Robert united with New Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist church in Camden, AR where he served on the trustee board, served as a deacon and was Ordained as a Baptist Minister. Robert attended Lafayette Elementary School and Fairview Junior High School. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1973. He served in the United States Air Force with an Honorable Discharge. After his military career in March of 1983 Robert pursued his career in insurance and became a very successful Insurance Agent and received multiple awards. He was a very accomplished Insurance Agent and District Manager for Merrill Lynch during the eighties and nineties. During that time it was very uncommon for African Americans to hold this title with such prestige and success. He opened doors and avenues for future African Americans to follow. In 1993 after having such success working with several different insurance companies, Robert decided to go into business for himself as an Independent Insurance Broker. He leaves behind a very successful insurance business that is owned and operated by his family.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Dessie Rene McCree; grandparents, L. C. and Muzette McCree and J. D. and Lorene Stevens.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Verlinda McCree of Camden, AR; three sons, Robert McCree, Jr. (Tonya) of San Diego, CA, Sean Paul McCree, Sr. (Shameka) of Little Rock, AR and Nicholas Deon Wade Johnson (Natalie) of Little Rock, AR; three daughters, Shaylynn McCree-Binford of Wichita, KS, April Johnson Ward and Alyvia Ward both of Camden, AR; grandchildren, Christina, Kayla, Veronica, Daniel McCree all of San Diego, CA, Sean McCree, Jr., Colby McCree of New Orleans, LA, Michael Binford, Jr. (MJ) of Wichita, KS and Carrington Sams of Little Rock, AR; his father, Raleigh McCree (Darlene) of Camden, AR; four brothers, Johnny McCree of Tulsa, OK, Michael Raleigh McCree (Shamitira) of Pine Bluff, AR, Joe Lee McCree of Kansas, Jerome Billingsly (Betty) of El Dorado, AR; seven sisters, Esterene Nayles (Phillip) of Camden, AR, Sherry Lee Pardue (Earl) of Camden, AR, Lameka Alston (Marc) of Columbia, MD, Wendy McCree of Little Rock, AR, Donna Goodman (Bruce) of Gautier, MS, Sharon Anderson Brown of Oklahoma, OK and Jackie Bolton (Hayes) of Memphis, TN; a very special aunt, Mary Lee Mallory of Magnolia, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Robert will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Camden Fairview High School Auditorium with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Shad Porchia will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
