Mr. William Andrew “Bill” Barnes, 80, of Jay, Oklahoma departed this life on Saturday morning, July 9, 2011 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma after several months of declining health.

Bill entered this life on May 28, 1931 in Beaty, Arkansas born to the union of the late Oler E. and Augusta (Darrow) Barnes. He moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1959 and for thirty years he was employed by the City of New Orleans. Bill returned home to Delaware County, Oklahoma in 1997. He enjoyed his caring for his cats and playing his fiddle. He was of the Full Gospel faith and a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur and Jack Barnes; a niece, Kathy Gail Barnes; a brother in-law, Marshall Robertson; and a sister-in-law, Anna Lou Barnes.

Bill is survived by his sister, Helen Robertson of Jay, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Barnes are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Beaty Cemetery near Gravette, Arkansas with Bro. Richard Hart officiating.
