Nancy
February 10, 1934 - September 15, 2019

Nancy Kendall, 85, passed away peacefully at Ouachita County Medical Center in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 15, 2019. She was born February 10, 1934 in Emerson, AR to Eric and Mattie Williams.
Nancy was a standout basketball player for the Emerson Pirates, graduating in 1952 and earning a basketball scholarship to Beebe Junior College in Beebe, AR. She was a part of the 1952 Ladies State Championship team from Emerson where she scored 49 points in the state championship game to help the Pirates win their state title.
After graduating from Beebe Junior college, Nancy returned to Magnolia to work for McAlister Oil Company. It’s during this time she met her soulmate and life partner, Jerry Kendall. Together they raised three children and were married just shy of 58 years before Jerry’s passing just two weeks prior to Nancy.
Nancy found joy in everything life had to offer. From the most remedial task to the changing of lives, Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sibling, activist and friend. She seemed to never meet a stranger, and usually would do so with one of her patented bear hugs. Nancy simply loved people, and loved helping people. Regardless the need, she would try and fill that need for nothing more than the satisfaction of knowing someone was better off because of her efforts. She lived with the mindset that if one has the ability to help; one has the responsibility to help.
Nancy was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Camden, and especially loved her Sunday School Class. Her family was the center of her life. Along with her husband and three children, her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren were at the core of her heart. One rarely saw Nancy without a smile or encouraging word. Later in life, as health issues began to mount, Nancy never complained. She was blessed with a “glass half full” personality, and those who knew her are better for knowing her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Mattie Williams; an older brother, John Thomas Williams; and her loving husband of almost 58 years, Dr. Jerry Kendall. She is survived by her three children; John Kendall (Michelle), Stan Kendall (Chenoa) and Kelly Kendall; five grandchildren; Kirsten Kendall, Mercedes Beaver, Cassidy Kendall, Jeremy Kendall and Thomas Kendall; two great grandchildren Hazel Light and Kendall Beaver; and two brothers, Billy Williams and Wesley Williams.
A special acknowledgement and word of thanks to Shelba McCoy and Linda Hill for your personal and professional care over the last fourteen months, along with the excellent staff at OCMC Hospice Care. You all helped make the last few months, weeks and days much more pleasant for Nancy and her family.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Camden with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in Camden, 348 W. Washington St, Camden AR 71701, or to OCMC Hospice Care, 726 California Ave, Camden AR 71701.
