August 25, 1934 - August 26, 2011
Mary Nell Brakefield Williams, 77, after a courageous short battle with cancer traded this life for the one hereafter. Born in Forest, LA she lived in Camden, AR for the last forty years.
Mary loved babies and over the years kept several babies for local working mothers. For 13 years she worked as an artist selling her crafts at Canton First Monday Trade Days, BPW Barn Sale and other local craft shows. Recently Mary had become a hospice volunteer with Ouachita County Medical Center (OCMC). She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter 2406.
She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Marvin Eugene "Bobby" Williams retired Camden Fire Department Captain and UPS driver, a sister, Debbie Turner, a brother, Billy Brakefield, sister-in-law Nelda Brakefield, nephew Jimmy Brakefield, and her parents, Clarence Brakefield and Rachel Sherman Brakefield Alexander. She is survived by daughters Cindy Henson and Julie Christie and husband Ed of Lecompte, LA, grandson, Denny Martin Smith graduate of Camden-Fairview High School, his wife Kirsten Deane Smith of Manitowoc, WI and a sister, Rita Brakefield Horton and husband Raymond of Bossier City, LA, nephew Rusty Brakefield and wife Janet of Rayville, LA Bonnie Brakefield of Rayville, LA, the widow of Jimmy Brakefield and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a private person including her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Raymond Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice.
