Obituary:
Bernice Rudell Throckmorton Marshall died May 10, 2016. Bernice was born in Denmark, Ark., on April 27, 1923 to the late Thomas Edward and Martha L. Edna Throckmorton. Bernice was an LPN, having graduated from nursing school in 1971 after her four children were grown; she retired from St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ark., in 1987. Bernice married H.H. “Red” Marshall on March 28, 1951 and she mourned his early death in 1964 every day, but what a joy to know that she is reunited with him now. Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a wonderful sister and a loving Aunt to her family and many nieces and nephews. Bernice worked at the Holly Grove Food Bank for many years in her retirement serving her community in White County by helping to provide food to the most needy as well as handing out hand-written recipe cards and nutrition advice. Bernice was a faithful member of River of Life Church in Judsonia, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, H.H. Marshall, of Malvern, Ark.; her brothers, Gaylen Throckmorton, Gerald A. Throckmorton, Thomas E. Throckmorton and her brother, Darrell Throckmorton of Bald Knob, Ark.; and her dear sisters, Naomi Montgomery, O’Neida Roddie, and Zola Shockley of Hot Springs.
She is survived by her sister, Wilma D. Mason of Bald Knob, Ark., and by her children and their families: Steven Hough Marshall of Dallas, Texas; Pat Marshall of Little Rock, Ark., and her children Jason Steele and wife Shelley Stewart of Conway, Ark., Bethany Bryant and her four children of Woodward, Okla., and Stosh Krupicki of Little Rock, Ark.; James Marshall and his wife Patricia of Conway, Ark., and their children Matthew Marshall of Little Rock, Ark., and Lex Marshall of Boston, Mass.; Martha Marshall of Enid, Okla., and her children, James P. Marshall of Enid, Okla., and Scout Marshall of Stillwater, Okla., who each and all were her pride and joy. She loved being the aunt to her all her many nieces and nephews, her family was everything to her.
Visitation will be May 12, 2016 at Powell Funeral Home In Judsonia, Ark., and memorial service will be held on May 13, 2016 at Powell Funeral Home, Judsonia, Ark., 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made in her honor in lieu of flowers to the Arkansas Rice Depot, 3801 West 65th Street, Little Rock AR 72209.
