Hazel Josephine Burns, 95, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019.

Hazel Jo was born to Henry Dale Rutledge and Hattie (Barker) Rutledge. She was co-owner and operator of Burns Printing and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blytheville, in which she was very active. She was the former president of the Blytheville Women’s Club and the United Methodist Women. Hazel Jo loved entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and making Parker House Rolls was her specialty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Burns; two sons, Joseph Lee and wife Mary Burns and Stephen Ray Burns; three sisters, Margaret Marie Rutledge Lindsey, Evelyn Biggart Burns and Dessie Nadine Rutledge.

Hazel Jo leaves her son, Rhondal Dale (Carolyn) Burns of Arcadia, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Jean Burns of Southaven, Miss.; six grandchildren John Leon (Lisa) Burns of Maumelle, Carolyn “Susan” (Greg) York of Little Rock, Michael Edward (Sarah) Burns of Benton, Cory Allen (Jeanne) Burns of Cozad, Neb., Daniel Dale (Missy) Burns of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Wesley (Linda) Tomlinson of Humboldt, Tenn.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at First United Methodist Church in Blytheville with Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at First United Methodist Church.
