ROGERS — Melba Dean Johnson, 84, of Rogers went home to be with Jesus, where there will be no more pain or sickness, on Dec. 7, 2008. She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Melba Dean was born Sept. 23, 1924, in New Florence, Mo. Born to Harvey Pascal and Bessie Fry, she was one of 11 children. On Aug. 19, 1944, she married her sweetheart Harvey Dean Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ed and H.P., one infant granddaughter, Tammy Gaddy and one infant daughter, Marilyn Jean.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harvey of the home; daughters, Joyce (Roy) Gaddy of Rogers and Sandy (Robert) Timmons of Rogers and Patty (Phil) Robinson of Wichita, Kan.; sons, Dale Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Greg (Karen) Johnson of Milton, W.Va.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Johnson of Pensacola, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeff) Rose of Noblesville, Ind., Dusti Cunningham of Kansas City, Kan., Kenneth (Annie) Johnson of Pensacola, Shawn (Lori) Gaddy of Rogers, Jim (Melinda) Cunningham of Kearney, Mo., Tim (Shannon) Cunningham of Kearney, Mo., James (Angela) Timmons of Rogers, Scott (Desireie) Timmons of Cave Springs, Amy (Andy) Fisher of Gardner, Kan., Brian Johnson of Pensacola and Kristina Johnson of Milton, W.Va.; 18 great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Kendra Rose, Hannah, Lindsay and Evan Gaddy, Emily and Kaitlyn Johnson, Kelly Johnson, Hunter, Mali and Elli Cunningham, Kamp and Kole Cunningham, Reagan, Thad and Brook Timmons and Ashlynn and Caden Fisher; six sisters, two brothers and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 9 at Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 10 at Rogers First Church of the Nazarene, 4911 Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, with the Rev. Greg Johnson and the Rev. Charles Schenck officiating.
