Herschel M. Jester, 87, of Camden died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Ouachita Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Camden. Mr. Jester was born May 2, 1924 in Lockesburg, the son of Bishop and Jenny Bell Corley Jester. He was a member of The Victory Church in Camden, and worked for International Paper Company, Bag-Pak Division for 30 years.
The greatest treasure in his life besides his church was his family. He loved being a husband, dad, and papaw. Everyone loved Mr. Herschel, he never met a stranger, and he loved everyone. His hobbies were camping and fishing, and most of all he loved his garden.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Merril Jester, Frank Jester, and Howard Jester.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Jester of Camden; son, James Herschel Jester and wife, Shelia of Lockesburg, AR; daughter, Kathy Jester Waters and husband, Matt of Camden, AR; sons, Flem Combs, Jr. of Mineral Springs, AR, and Ronald Combs of Nashville, AR; daughters, Sherry Combs and Mickey Prodell and husband, Keith of Nashville, AR, Karen Combs of Murfreesboro, AR, Melenna Horne and Melvina Shankles both of Camden, AR, Elizabeth Watkins and husband, William of Columbus, OH; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; brothers, Cecil Jester of Hope, AR, Robbie Jester and wife, Verlene of Lockesburg, AR, sisters, Mildred Truly and husband, Bill and Royaline Jester all of Lockesburg, AR; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Jester will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Victory Church with Rev. Jerry Ables, Rev. Stephen Willis, and Rev. Donald McRae officiating .Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
