CROSLEY, W.J. - W.J. Crosley died last Wednesday at 8 p.m. at his home on West Walnut street. Mr. Crosley had suffered for many months with heart and lung troubles and his death came as a relief from much suffering. Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. J.G. Bailey, assisted by Rev. Nelson of the M.E. church. Interment was in the Rogers cemetery. Mr. Crosley was born in 1845 in Warren county, New York. At the age of nineteen years he entered the Union army, was captured and spent several months in the famous Libby prison in Richmond. After the close of the war he entered and graduated from St. Lawrence University, New York. Entering the ministry of the Universalist church, he was a minister of that creed for twenty years. He was twice married. A son by his first wife is now a lieutenant in the U. S. navy. May 5, 1895 he was married to Miss Retta Wilson and three years later they moved from Iowa to Rogers, where they have since made their home. For several years they lived on a farm northwest of Rogers but after an illness Mr. Crosley moved to town. Mr. Crosley has taken an active interest in all the forward movements of the city and has always shown himself to be a willing worker so far as his health would allow. By his death our city has lost one of her best citizens and our people extend their sympathy to the bereaved wife.
