Laverne Puckett Lucas of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 1, 1920 at Sheridan, the daughter of the late Joseph Harve and Jenny Stuckey Puckett. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sheridan, had worked at McCoy Tygart Pharmacy as well as a waitress in the family café. She enjoyed dancing, taking walks, but most of all, she loved making memories with her family.

Mrs. Lucas died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her home in Sheridan at the age of 90. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Lucas; a son, Jack Lucas; brothers, Dude, George, Ted, Jewel “Preacher”, and Otha Puckett; sisters, Janie Derrick, Joey Allen and Floy Davis.

Survivors include her son, James Harold Lucas and wife Peggy of Fort Smith; sister, Betty Zylks and husband Roy Don of Louisiana; grandsons, Rodney Lucas and wife Michele and Curt Lucas and wife Kristy; step-grandchildren, Robin Flippin, Chuck Greenwall, and Kim Greenwall; great grandchildren, Nathan, Paul, Joshua, Kendall, Aiden, Alden and Ashton; several step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M., Friday, August 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Jerry Miller officiating with Sue Parsley sharing some words of comfort. Burial will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Don Culpepper, Phil Threet, Shane Green, David Mears, Butch Hunter, Clyde Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers: Bennie Jackson, Joe Wise, Roger Johnson.
