Cecil William Cox, 84, of Velvet Ridge, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 27, 2016. He was born September 28, 1931 in Bald Knob a son of the late Cecil Wayne and Dixie Nola Cox. Mr. Cox was a retired carpenter and a member of the Velvet Ridge Church of God.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Wayne Cox (Rae Ellen) and Walt Chestnut (Olga); daughters, Jeannie Brimer, Rhonda Vanderburg (Sam) and Dana Alexander (Lynn); brothers, Carl Cox, Troy Cox, Clois Cox and Dwight Cox; sister, Nola Mae Jackson; grandchildren, Scott Cox (Terri), Sam Vanderburg, Jr., David Cox (Jennifer), Lena Alexander, Marcus Joel Brimer (Danielle), Tracy Vanderburg Quinn, Crystal Glover (Brian), Jeremy Vanderburg (Cherie), Dwayne Brimer (Tiffany), Amy Sawyer (Randy), Jason Chstnut (Kim) and Adam Chsetnut; 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Cox; son, Dwayne Cox; son-in-law, Joe Brimer; great-grandson, Alex Odom; 3 brothers, Jessie, Dale and Finis Cox.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Velvet Ridge Church of God. Servives will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Bro. Doug Swindle officiating. Interment will follow in the Velvet Ridge Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob – Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
