Charles Ernest Baty, 85 of Velvet Ridge went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the presence of family and friends. He was born August 21, 1924 in Wynne, Arkansas to Charles G, and Opal Baty. He was a retired welder and assembler.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva Davis Baty: 3 daughters, Diana Jean Baty-Ranns of Bald Knob, Debbie Baty Cox and husband Steven of Bald Knob, Kathleen Cook of Kalamazoo, MI; 1 son John Charles Baty and wife Kim of Gilbert, AZ; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandsons; 1 brother, Tom Baty of Gobles, MI; 3 sisters, Lillian Witcher of Cabot, AR, Shirley DeAndra of Kalamazoo, MI, and Hazel Miller of Oakland Park, FL, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother Jay Baty and 5 sisters, Dora Bolen, Ruby Patterson, Helen Vroman, Carol Pease, and Peggy Baty. He was a beloved, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at 2:00 at Velvet Ridge Church of God. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Interment will follow in the Velvet Ridge Cemetery. www.powellfuneralhome.net
