Beloved Wife of John Patrick

Anneliese Donegan 90, of Camden AR, entered the kingdom of Heaven on May 25, 2016 at 10:03pm surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Donegan; her mother and father, George and Martha Sendelbach; and her sister, Margaret Smith. She is survived by her son, Colin Donegan and his wife, Louise of Roxbury, NJ; and her daughter, Tracy Shambley and her husband, Randy of Camden AR. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Jessica Porsch and Chelsea Betts of Camden AR and Erin Murphy, Sean Donegan and Christopher Donegan of Roxbury NJ and Megan Bell of Wantage, NJ. She also had the ultimate joy of being a great grandmother to Julia Porsch, Aleah and Landon Betts and Kathryn and Brian Murphy. Anneliese was a proud member of St Louis Catholic Church in Camden Arkansas.

She was born Anneliese Sendelbach on January 29, 1926 in Kassel, Germany. She grew up during the Horrors of World War 2, but she was brave and determined to keep God first despite the tyranny of Germany's third Reich laws. At the age of 25 she struck out on her own to start a new life in America, crossing the Atlantic, all alone but unafraid. While in America she met and married John P Donegan and started family life in Denville, NJ. She was a devout Catholic, active in the local church and was a beloved Bus Driver for many years with the Denville Township Board of Education. Ultimately her most cherished accomplishment other than her family came in 1958 when she officially became a Citizen of the United States of America! It was one of the proudest days of her life!! Later in life...she would write in her journal: "I fell in love with America, not for its so called riches, rather I loved America because of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion and to be free to do as I please within the Law of God and Country. Did I have to struggle? You bet I did!! I still do...who doesn't? But the good in my life always stands out the most and I never once regretted that I "chose" to become an American!! However, I am saddened sometimes that people have not learned from past History...to love one another more, as God intended for all of us to do. But alas, we are the people...for the people and by the people...and it should start with each and every one of us. If only everyone could learn to do that, how Heavenly this world would be!"

Visitation will be from 6-8 on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Proctor Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church at 3pm on May 28, 2016. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that friends and family please make donations to the American Diabetes Association. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
