Bobby Hugh Butler, 78, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, after battling cancer. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery in Pike County, Arkansas.
Bobby was born in Paris, Texas, to the late Hugh and Annie Eula Butler, and moved to Pleasant Grove, Texas, in early childhood. He served four years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ponchatoula before moving to Arkansas where he met and married Sarah Harris. They moved back to Dallas in early 1961 where they raised two children, Cindy and Bobby. After working as an electrician for more than 30 years, he joined Sarah in the drapery business at Garland Drapery.
He was a member of New Liberty Baptist church since 1970, a member of Masonic Lodge Tannehill No. 52, and coached youth soccer for six years. He was a talented craftsman who had a reputation for being Mr. Fix-It and contracted and built their home in Rockwall. A kind-hearted man, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family and his pets, and he enjoyed woodworking and rebuilding his 1972 Chevy pickup.
He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Marguerite Howell.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sarah Butler; daughter, Cindy Byers and husband, Eddie, of Crossroads, Texas; son, Bobby Wade Butler and wife, Kelly, of McKinney; grandsons, Neil Byers, of Crossroads, Texas, and Christopher Butler, of McKinney; step-grandchildren, Josh and Lori Byers, of Malakoff, Texas; brother, Melvin Butler, of Dallas; sister, Ann Dodson, of Boise, Idaho; other relatives and many friends.
