September 15, 1934 - June 1, 2018
Earl Lewis, 83 of Camden passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab. He was born September 15, 1934 in South Bend, IN to the late Pierce Edwin and Florence Elizabeth Welch Lewis. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley (Jenkins) Lewis, daughter, Kimberly Annette Lewis, sister, Evelyn Whiteman of Grand Rapids, MI and four brothers, Pierce Edwin Jr. of South Bend, IN, Russell Lewis of Phoenix, AZ, Wayne Lewis of San Antonio, TX and Robert (Bob) Lewis of Camden.
Earl worked at Elk Roofing Company in Stephens, AR for many years and later owned and operated Earl’s Hardware in Bearden, AR until he retired. He later worked part-time at Blann Hardware in Camden for a while.
Earl served in the United States Army from May 6, 1957 until April 21, 1959. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 31, 1963
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Camden, which was very dear to him. Earl was also a member of the Camden Boat Club and the Elk Roofing Bowling League for many years. He was an avid Razorback fan.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his two sisters, Joan Hodges and Shirley Baker and husband, David all of Camden. Special people in his life were many nieces and nephews and a beloved Basset Hound, Molly.
The family will receive friends at Proctor Funeral Home Monday, June 4, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM
A graveside service will be held 10 AM Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Richard Foster and Reverend Travis Johnson officiating.
