Harlon was born in the Troy Community where he spent his childhood years and worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal during World War II. He worked many years at International Paper where he retired as a painter.

He was a Sunday School Teacher, Church Training Director and Deacon at Cullendale First Baptist Church. He served as interim preacher at 37 different churches in South Arkansas and delivered eulogies for more than 200 funerals.

Sir Knight Harlon Leroy Lusby was constituted a noble of the Mystic Shrine in the Sahara Temple of Pine Bluff in May 1971 and currently maintained his commandery.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Faye Garmany; parents, Jim Jack and Anna Henry Lusby; brothers, Edsel Partee and Otis Lusby; sister, Vona Jean Black; son, Gary Lusby; grandson, Brad Lusby; and granddaughter, Sherry Gloyn.

He is survived by his sons, Granvel "Bubba" Lusby and wife, Janis and Doyt Lusby and wife, Shirley; grandsons, Jeff Lusby, Dale Lusby and Michael P. Lusby; granddaughters, Lydia LaVarnway and Carol Lusby; great grandsons, Kelsy LaVarnway and Troy LaVarnway; great granddaughters, Leeanne Hasara; Hollie Lusby and Heather Lusby; great great grandsons, Wesley Newman and Antowne Newman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 10:00AM Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Cullendale First Baptist Church with Dr. Wade Totty and Dr. Jimmy Burks officiating. Graveside service immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Proctor Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church or Shriners Children's Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
