Carl Winfred Cox of Pennsboro, WV passed away at his home after a long illness on Saturday, March 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 30, 1935 in Bald Knob, AR a son of the late Cecil and Dixie (Johnson) Cox. Carl served in the Marines in World War II and also worked on the Alaska Pipeline as a member of the pipe fitters union. He was a certified cross country truck driver and won several awards for safety. Carl loved his family dearly and would do anything to help them. He was a member of the Velvet Ridge Church of God of Velvet Ridge, AR and he loved working in his yard raising red roses.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (Finley) Cox; son, Wendal Cox, Bernie Barley, and Joe Riffle; daughters, Sonya Adams and Barbara Riffle; grandchildren, Holly, Carla, Patience, and Ben; several great grandchildren; brothers, Clois, Troy, and Dwight Cox, and sister, Nola Mae Jackson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jessie, Finis, Junior, and Dale Cox.

Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They simply say we'll miss you, Until we meet again. Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Louis Armstrong VA Critical Care Unit.

In accordance to Carl's wishes he will be cremated and the family has planned a private service in the near future. McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements.
