Betty Marie Prince Deaton, born February 12, 1932 in Camden, AR went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 26, 2019. She graduated from Camden High School and Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing in 1953 becoming a registered nurse where she worked most of her nursing career at the Ouachita County Medical Center. She worked the last 25 years as operating room supervisor. She was employee of the year in 1984 and went on a Medical Mission Trip in 1988.
Betty was a faithful member of Camden First Baptist Church for 78 years where she taught Sunday School to 3rd and 4th graders for several years, then an adult Ladies Class for the last 15 years. She was active in the Senior Adult Ministry. She was the Church Historian since 2006. She loved serving her Lord and Savior and going on Mission trips with the youth.
Betty enjoyed bible study, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and new adventures. She said her greatest blessings in life were loving and serving her Lord, having a faithful and loving husband and raising and loving three good and successful sons.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Deaton; parents; Homer H. Prince and Cecile Gulley Prince; brother, John E. Prince and sister, Carolyn Prince.
Betty is survived by her three sons, David L. Deaton and wife, Patti of Carrollton, TX, Michael C. Deaton and wife, Sharon of Corning, AR and Timothy R. Deaton and wife, Becky of Charleston, SC; sister, Jane Showers and husband, Stan of Texarkana, TX; three granddaughters, Rayleigh Deaton of Charleston, SC, Amber Shipman of Corning, AR and Melissa Bass of Corning, AR; two grandsons, Matt Garner of Lexington, KY and Danny Thompson of Corning, AR; and many dear and loyal friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 348 W. Washington Street, Camden, AR 71701.
