Harold Clarence Thompson, 82, of Camden, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at his home in Camden. Mr. Thompson was born November 23, 1929 in Magness, Arkansas, the son of Clarence William and Winnie Seymore Thompson. He was retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Tech Sergeant; served as a City Police Officer for the city of Jacksonville, AR and an instructor for the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Opal Thompson; brothers, Billy Wayne Thompson and Leonard Thompson; and sister, Medrith Lance.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda Mae Thompson of Camden, AR; sons, Steven Harold Thompson and wife, Sherry of Gladstone, MO and Kevin Ray Thompson and wife, Angel of Junction City, AR; daughter, Laura Denise Castleman and husband, Norman of New Boston, TX; four grandchildren, Katrena Walker of Texarkana, AR, Reatina Rudd of Junction City, AR, Sheena Theriot of Conway, AR, and Sean Thompson of Camden, AR; and two great grandchildren; sister, Lois Ward of St. Charles, MO; half-brothers, Charles Thompson of Midlothian, TX and Jimmy Thompson of Duncanville, TX; half sister, Annetta Wallace of Grand Praire, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Camden with Rev. Don Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 319 Hwy 278 W., Camden, AR 71701
