Husband of Elizabeth Helms (marr. ca. 1844); son of Archibald J. and Elander Helms
Family lore includes the following regarding when Lone Oak Cemetery was established: "A man (Wyatt Helms) was riding his horse home one night when a light came from the ground and traveled in front of him to a large oak tree and went back into the ground. The man believed this was a sign he was about to die and this was where he was to be buried. He died shortly after that and is buried under the oak tree."
