Mary Pauline (Maggie) Woodle was born on June 30, 1886, in Ar, Gotland, Sweden. She married William Oscar Pate on May 1, 1904, in West Point, Arkansas. They had nine children in 16 years. She died on November 22, 1923, in White, Arkansas, at the age of 37, and was buried in West Point, Arkansas.
