J. A. Gilpin of Little Rock Injured Fatally When Cr Skidded.

Searcy, March 15. - J. A. Gilpin, foreman for the McGregor and Pickett Construction Company of Little Rock which has the contract for building the Millard-Jeffries Chevrolet building died at the sanatorium here this afternoon from the shock of an operation. Gilpin's neck was broken on the night of March 8, when the roadster in which he was riding with Mres. Roy Duncan and Miss Mildred Stark left the highway near the Little Red river bridge between Searcy and Judsonia and went down an embankment. Gil
pin was pinned under the car, face down in the mud. The operation revealed that the spinal cord was injured and partially torn away. Mrs. Duncan, who suffered a serious fracture, is in the hospital here and her condition is considered as dangerous. Miss Stark, the third occupant of the car and the owner and driver was not injured seriously.

When James Allen Gilpin was born on February 16, 1876, in Madison, Louisiana, his father, James, was 22 and his mother, Rachel, was 23. He married Alice Tabitha Becton on February 5, 1902, in Prairie, Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on March 15, 1929, in Arkansas at the age of 53, and was buried in West Point, Arkansas.
