Louisa Lily WHITE

Owens Chapel Cemetery
Polk County,
Arkansas

Lily Louisa Derryberry White wife of R.M. (Raleigh M.) White. Louisa was born November 14, 1814 in Tishomingo Co., MS and died August 1, 1861 at Owens Chapel, Polk Co., AR. Her husband and 3 older sons were away fighting in the Civil War, when Louisa died of a fever, leaving the oldest daughter (Angelana) age 13 to take care of several younger sibings. Stone reads: Mother sleeps in the valley so sweet, but her spirit has taken its flight. Lo: Her form is but dust neath our feet, while she is an angel of light. The stone has Louise L. White, however family members say her name was Louisa Lily White.
