October 28, 1969 - December 31, 2017
Josh Randall Underwood, 48, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, in Fort Smith.
He was born Oct. 28, 1969, in Gladewater, Texas, to parents Anna R. Underwood and Doug and Sue Underwood.
Josh graduated from Ozark High School in 1988 and University of Ozark in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration Marketing.
He was a senior therapeutic pharmaceutical consultant for Gilead Sciences Inc. Josh volunteered at Immaculate Conception Schools and was on the Trinity School board 2014-17.
Over Josh’s lifetime there were many awards, achievements and honors, from scouts to little league. He started work at age 15 and that followed with many accolades, but his most important and most valuable achievement was his children, Abby and Sophia, a 20-year marriage and his relationships that he maintained with his parents, grandparents and other family members, coworkers, friends and neighbors.
Josh was a loving, caring and compassionate person that was always concerned for everyone else and making an effort to secure everyone’s well-being, something you learn from your Heavenly Father. Josh was of the Christian faith and tried to treat everyone the way God would. He was a motivated and high achiever and continuously thinking about the team and the group results, rather than himself. Josh was the best son a person could wish for, an adorable grandson and loved by all family members and basically everyone that ever met him.
Josh’s children, Abby and Sophia, were his heart, his love and his joy, his greatest assets. His girls were what he was most proud of in his life. Abby and Sophia Underwood are a reflection of Josh’s perfection. He brought so much joy to anyone he ever met with his smile and his caring sense of humor. He made us laugh, even now in this dark hour; we all are finding love, joy and laughter in his legacy. He leaves deep footprints in our hearts to remember him by. We will forever love and miss such a light, our love.
Josh is survived by his two daughters, Abby Underwood and Sophia Underwood, both of Fort Smith; his mother, Anna Underwood of Mulberry; his father, Douglas Underwood and his wife Susanne of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Houston Cemetery in Alix following the service. Service is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Rob Nielson, Bill Reynolds, Raffy Quimbo, Marvin Barnes Jr., Jim Stinebaugh and Joe Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Nicely, Jeremey Larkin, Josh Newman and Jamison Hancock.
