When Leon W. (Loney) Pannell was born on October 28, 1890, in Florence, Alabama, his father, James, was 33 and his mother, Mary, was 32. He married Eva Cinderella (Rillie) Duke on January 16, 1910. They had six children in 15 years. He died on August 4, 1968, in Higginson, Arkansas, at the age of 77, and was buried in West Point, Arkansas.
