When John Henry Burfield was born on April 22, 1894, in Phil Campbell, Alabama, his father, John, was 37 and his mother, Rona, was 31. He married Mary Jane Vest on May 25, 1914. They had three children during their marriage. He died on May 25, 1979, in Forrest City, Arkansas, at the age of 85, and was buried in Lepanto, Arkansas.

Mary Jane Vest was born on December 3, 1897, in Booneville, Mississippi. She married John Henry Burfield on May 25, 1914. They had three children during their marriage. She died on June 25, 1979, in Forrest City, Arkansas, at the age of 81.
