Mrs. Lois I. Forrester Appling, age 106, of Forrest City, died Tuesday at the Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City.

Mrs. Appling was born June 17, 1905, in Biggers, Arkansas, and was the daughter of Elijah N. Forrester and Leona Wells Forrester. She moved to Forrest City in 1989 from Dyess, Arkansas, was a housewife and store clerk, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Appling married Carl Summers Appling in 1925, and he preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Appling Burfield of Forrest City, two sons; Aubrey J. Appling, wife Louise, of Mt. View, and Alton A. Appling of West Memphis, nine grandchildren; Gary Burfield of Memphis, Mary Lois Banks, and husband Brett, of Tyronza, Marcia Priesen, and husband Shawn, of Memphis, Ricky Appling, and wife Cyndi, of Marion, Teresa Montgomery, and husband Garry, of Memphis, Susan Appling, and Kim, of Southaven, Allen Appling of West Memphis, Cliff Vest, and wife Brenna, of Marion, and Terry Appling of Mt. View, seventeen great-grandchildren and twenty-three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She had three brothers, Mitchell Forrester, Lige Forrester, and Jess Forrester, one sister, Thelma Pauline Forrester, one son-in-law, V. L. 'Pat' Burfield, one daughter-in-law, Judy Appling, and two grandchildren, Debbie Appling Vest and Aubrey Joe Appling Jr., who all preceded her in death.\

Services for Mrs. Appling will be held at First Baptist Church in Forrest City, 1:00 P.M., Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00 till 8:00 P.M., at Stevens Funeral Home with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 P.M., Thursday at the Potters Cemetery in Lepanto, Arkansas. You may log on to stevensfuneralhome.net for the on line registry. Lois I Forrester was born on June 17, 1905, in Biggers, Arkansas. She married Carl Summers Appling on October 16, 1925, in Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. She died having lived for more than 100 years. She died on April 17, 2012, in Forrest City, Arkansas, at the age of 106, and was buried in Lepanto, Arkansas.

When Carl Summers Appling was born on June 7, 1905, in DeSoto, Mississippi, his father, Joseph, was 29 and his mother, Roxie, was 29. He married Lois I Forrester on October 16, 1925, in Arkansas. They had three children during their marriage. He died on January 27, 1988, in Dyess, Arkansas, at the age of 82, and was buried in Lepanto, Arkansas.
