When John Junior Smith was born on March 11, 1934, in Lee, Arkansas, his father, John, was 37 and his mother, Elma, was 30. He married on August 24, 1955, in Mississippi. He had two children during his marriage. He died on January 20, 2019, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried there.

John Smith, Jr. 84, of Searcy passed away on January 20, 2019. He was born to the late John and Marie Smith on March 11, 1934 in the community of Buckhorn in Lee County Arkansas
.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and returned home to farm. After retiring from farming, he joined the staff of the Lee County Courthouse where 15 years later he enjoyed his second retirement. A lifelong musician he enjoyed making music with his friends for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ona, one sister, Shirley Holland from Alexander, AR, one son, Mike from Bald Knob, one daughter, Renee from Knoxville, TN, two grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer, and their children, dear friends Vonceia Snider, Ross and Edith Kettles, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was also beloved by his church family at Foothills Church of Christ.
