Norman Dale Cole was born July 30, 1931 in Ft. Gibson ,OK to Eddie Orian and Dicie Cole. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday July 26, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Norman served in the Air Force and then moved to Seminole, Oklahoma where he met and married Phyllis Collins in 1957. Their union was blessed with two girls. After living in Denver, Colorado, San Jose, California, and North Little Rock, Arkansas, he moved to Searcy, Arkansas, which became his home.
He retired from James H. Matthews in 1996. He was best known in Searcy for his years as an umpire. He umpired American Legion baseball and girls softball for over 25 years.
He was a deacon and longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 yrs. Phyllis Cole. His daughter Alisa Sandusky and husband David; daughter Suzanne Brown and husband Kelley; grandchildren Emily Williams and husband Harrison, Nicolas Sandusky and wife Rachel, Seth Sandusky and wife Emily, and Cole Wesley Brown; great-granddaughter Rilee Sandusky and expecting great grandchildren Blaine Williams, Baylee Sandusky, and Nathan Sandusky by November; one brother Bill Cole of Mannford, Oklahoma.
His wish was for some of his baseball boys to be his pallbearers, so the family is considering all if his baseball boys his honorary pallbearers. He loved his years at both fields .
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and four brothers
