Campbell, MO- Lois Elizabeth Truelove Carpenter, 100, went to be with her Lord on February 25, 2016 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Arkansas. Lois was the daughter of Lester Noel Truelove and Maude Lee Truelove and was born August 27, 1915 in Houston, Arkansas. She celebrated her 100th birthday at Campbell Community Center with more than 150 in attendance. She married James Arthur Carpenter in October 1931, and spent almost 71 years of marriage together. Lois was a wonderful mother to seven children, twenty-one grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. She was also very devoted to her love of God and her church, most recently the First Baptist Church of Campbell, Missouri. She was a homemaker and was known as the Quilt Grandmother. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Douglas (Mary) Carpenter of Cordova, Tenn., Dan (Bonnie) Carpenter of Shelbina, Missouri, Martha Like of Campbell, LaWanda (Peter) Roudebush of Davenport, Iowa and Mike (Virginia) Carpenter of Novelty, Missouri and all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. Carpenter; two children, James Junior Carpenter and Mary Lou Carpenter Nau; two sons-in-law, Evan Deane Nau and Leo R. Like; a daughter-in-law, Mary Aline Carpenter; three brothers, Chester, Carl and Nolen Truelove and two sisters, Verlyn Carpenter and Corrine Bynum. A celebration of her life will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 29, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marty Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow at Potter’s Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home at 300 W. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandchildren. Lasting memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.

Lois Elizabeth Truelove was born on August 27, 1915, in Houston, Arkansas. She married James Arthur Carpenter on October 3, 1931, in Blytheville, Arkansas. They had two children during their marriage. She died on February 25, 2016, in Piggott, Arkansas, at the age of 100.

When James Carpenter was born on October 20, 1912, in Arkansas, his father, James, was 31 and his mother, Rose, was 24. He had three children with Lois Elizabeth Truelove. He died on July 6, 2002, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 89.
