Mrs. Yula Jane Van Voast, age 97, a resident of DeQueen, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the home of Richard Van Voast.
She was born on September 28, 1905 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Sam and Atyche Sturgeon Longstreet. She was a homemaker and a life long member of the Union Community Church.
Mrs. Van Voast was preceded in death by her husband: Evert G. Van Voast on November 16, 1972; one son: Luther Van Voast and 3 brothers.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Shirley Van Voast and Philip and Melba Van Voast, all of De Queen; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Viola and Tommy Jones of Madill, Oklahoma, Freda Pedron of De Queen and Margaret and Rolando Gonzalez of Dallas, Texas; 18 grandchildren: Nelda Kyger of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jimmie Shelton of Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma, David Fenton of Conroe, Texas, Phyllis Burrow of Texarkana, Arkansas, William Van Voast of New Jersey, Jim Jones of Madill, Oklahoma, Roland Gonzalez of Irvine, California, Keith Gonzalez of Rockwall, Texas, Karen Cripe of Papua, Indonesia, Kelly Gonzalez of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bonnie Erwin of Conway, Arkansas, Larry Huntsberger of De Queen, Steve Huntsberger of Port Arthur, Texas, Marla DeCoux of Nederland, Texas, Rhonda Beck, Sandra Nunn, James Van Voast and Janice Van Voast, all of DeQueen; 30 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Van Voast will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2002 in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Oscar Ball officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at the funeral home.
