ROGERS — Myrtis V. Patterson, 96, of Rogers, Ark., died Feb. 1, 2012.

She was born May 12, 1915, in Early, Iowa, to Ralph B. and Hazel Marie Kirkpatrick. She attended high school in Spencer, Iowa, graduated as a registered nurse from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She taught nursing for 22 years, and was the first admitting nurse coordinator at St. Luke's Medical Center Hospital in Sioux City. After retiring, Myrtis and her husband, Martin B. Larsen, moved to Cherokee Village, Ark., where she did extensive volunteer work by teaching the EMT's as well as working with the ambulance crews. She was a member of the Methodist Church at Cherokee Village and sang in their choir. Myrtis enjoyed playing golf, tennis, bridge and sewing, as well as reading and giving many inspirational book reviews. In 1988, Myrtis and Martin moved to Rogers and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers.

Myrtis was preceded in death by her parents; a stepsister, Beulah Maxine Webb; two brothers, Gilbert William Kirkpatrick and wife, Helen, and Robert Kirkpatrick and wife, Margaret; one daughter, Marilyn Jean Larsen-Hill. Martin Larsen passed away in May of 1989. She married Veril Patterson and he passed away in December of 2003.

Survivors are one son, Kent M. Larsen and daughter-in-law, Beth, of Scio, Ore.; stepchildren Brent and Sally Patterson and Nancy and Bill Florke; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Rogers with the Rev. Jeff Parker officiating. There will be a private interment at the Benton County Memorial Park. The family invites friends to join them for a celebration of life and a luncheon at the church after the service.
