Sam Briggs Jr., 90, of El Dorado, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at the John McClelland Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on July 21, 1927, in El Dorado. He was the son of Sam Briggs, Sr. and Lottie Noble Briggs. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Bronze Service Star. He retired from the Sewer Maintenance Department at the El Dorado Water Utilities. He was a member of New Eastside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are: four sons: Derrick Briggs & Kevin Briggs of Little Rock, Ronald Pace of Euclid, Ohio and Douglas Briggs of Alberta, Canada; three daughters: Sherry Townsend of El Dorado, Pamela Williams of Maumelle and Joyce Chenier of Texas; a host of grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at New Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Public viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
