Mattie Thetford, age 87, of Cash passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born December 18, 1924 in Cash to Roy and Bess (Pierce) Gibson. Mattie was a housewife who also worked on the farm with her family. She was a member of the Cash Baptist Church and loved being with her friends and family.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Thetford in 1989; two brothers, Jimmy Gibson and Leon Gibson; and a sister, Faye Peck.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Thetford and Mack Thetford of Cash; two daughters, Elaine Turnage of Mesa, AZ and Joan Gammon of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Todd Thetford of Jonesboro, Rhonda Turnage and Stacey Nordlin both of Mesa; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Gibson of Cash; and a sister, Betty West of Jonesboro.
Graveside services will be 2 pm Saturday at the Cash Cemetery with Ray Broadway officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
No public visitation is planned.
The family requests lasting memorials be made to either the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 East Matthews, Jonesboro, AR 72401 or the Cash Baptist Church, 4144 Hwy 18, Cash, AR 72421.
