Served 28 years in the Marine Corps, retiring as a sergeant major in 1978. He served with the 2nd and 3rd Marine Divisions as a State Department attache and as laison officer for all military depots in Germany and in the post Korea/Vietnam eras.
Former President of the Benton County Historical Society and editor of the Society's newsletter, "The Pioneer".
